Naturopathy
Naturopathic approaches to health care are aimed at supporting and enhancing the body’s own ability to heal itself, identifying and treating the cause of an individuals current health status.
It takes into consideration not only the physical aspects of one’s health, but also the environmental, social, mental and spiritual aspects of an individual.
In a naturopath appointment, I will review a patient's current and past medical history, assess their current diet and lifestyle and various systems of the body in depth i.e. digestive, nervous, reproductive, cardiovascular.
If I feel more information is required I may communicate with the patient’s GP, or recommend functional pathology testing i.e comprehensive stool analysis, food intolerance testing.
To form a specific treatment plan, I may incorporate naturopathic interventions such as herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, iridology, diet and lifestyle strategies with the aim of empowering the individual through education to assist with restoring and maintaining optimal health and wellbeing.
I use a combination of evidence based naturopathic medicine, in conjunction with traditional naturopathic principles and practices to support allopathic medicine principles and practices.
Herbal Medicine
I prescribe herbal medicine based on both evidence-based and traditional information. With over 100 herbal tinctures on my shelf I can personalise a herbal remedy that is most suited to you. Other forms of herbs that I may use include herbal teas, capsules or powders and creams.
Nutritional Medicine
After evaluating diet and lifestyle, current and past medical history, I can identify nutritional aspects that may be contributing to an individual's current health, and implement dietary strategies and/or high quality nutritional supplements to replete/correct deficiencies that may be present due to dietary choices, medication depletions, one’s state of health (i.e increased stress can increase magnesium and B vitamin deficiencies). Patient education is of high importance as short and long term nutritional strategies through the therapeutic use of food in the diet can assist in prevention of disease, improving and maintaining optimal health and wellbeing throughout the lifespan.
